10 more chickens

We've got 10 more chickens to add to the herd (?) making 14 in total. They're sad, skinny, pecked little creatures and not a good advert for supermarket eggs at all. I'm currently feeding them up on unlimited layers pellets, sunflower seeds and mixed corn, plus all-they-can eat greenery from the garden. Within a few days I have spotted the sprouts of new feathers on their backs and their natural chickeny behaviour is flourishing.

The eggs are pale and thin-shelled, but are getting more robust by the day. In the absence of a 'proper' new henhouse, they're currently in the pig pyramid which suits them fine, but means I have to squeeze in there each day to collect the eggs! New chicken palace to be constructed shortly – watch out Norman Foster – I'll have your job.

Spot the big chubby one in the middle – she's one of the original four
